About the studio
Ray Atwood (he/him) is a visual artist born, educated, and currently residing in Thunder Bay on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe peoples. He is a graduate of Lakehead University’s Fine Art Program. During that time his primary focus was painting with oil and acrylic to create both representational and more abstract mixed media pieces/assemblages. His work developed out of his experience exploring nature and the allure of all things abandoned and dilapidated. All aspects of his work, both past and present, include overarching themes of solitude, impermanence, dwelling and perception.
The last six years have been focused on progressing as a tattooer and illustrator. Throughout this time, Ray has built a reputation for large scale custom work. As of 2020 Ray owns and operates, At the Well Tattoo, a private studio in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
